Monday 7th December saw the beginning of a special week of fundraising by Bray & Bray Solicitors, for local brain injury charity Headway Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, which supports local people to significantly improve their lives after life changing brain injuries.

Devised and organised by Bray & Bray’s specialist Personal Injury team, ‘Headway Competition Week’ began with departments competing against each other in a competition for ‘the best looking cake’, with points being awarded to the Litigation and Corporate teams for their elaborate Christmas themed creations, which were then raffled to raise money.

The second day’s competition awarded points to the fastest male and female scalextric racers, whilst the third day saw teams getting competitive in a mini table tennis tournament.

On the fourth day, the competition heated up over Christmas dinner, cooked and donated by members of staff; whilst an extravagant Santa Claus cake was raffled throughout Bray & Bray’s offices in Leicester, Hinckley and Market Harborough to contribute over £100 to the week’s fundraising.

Friday 11th December marked the end of ‘Headway Competition Week’ with a ‘Use Your Head’ quiz. Triumphant in their head and brain related knowledge, the Personal Injury team won the quiz, but the overall champions were the Litigation team, who were worthy winners after playing a large part in fundraising throughout the week.

Speaking about the success of the week’s activities, Personal Injury Partner and Trustee of Headway Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, Ian Johnson comments:

“Having experienced a head injury myself many years ago and through being part of a team that has dealt with numerous head and brain injury claims over recent years, I know how debilitating these serious injuries can be. This is why we like to support charities such as Headway, which really make a difference.
“This week has been a lot of fun and has helped to raise awareness of the fantastic work that Headway Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland does internally, but most importantly I’m delighted to say that staff at Bray & Bray put in a huge amount of effort and enthusiasm over their lunch breaks during ‘Headway Competition Week’, which has meant that we can donate over £300 to Headway Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland in time for Christmas.”

Commenting on behalf of Headway Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Services Director Mary Goulty, says:

“This is brilliant, sounds like you had a great time! For a small local charity, this kind of community support is vital, both to help raise awareness of brain injury, and raise much needed funds to support our members. We can’t thank you all enough for your hard work, and for thinking of us – a very welcome Christmas surprise!”
