Simple Probate Applications

We realise that dealing with small estates (maybe a couple of bank accounts for someone who died in a care home) is not a big job; but we can still help. If the total value of the assets is less than £150,000 and you simply want us to get the Probate so that you can collect the assets, pay bills and pay beneficiaries, we will work on a fixed price of £450 plus VAT plus the Probate Registry fee (£155 plus 50p for each extra copy), the executors Oath swearing fee (£7 for each executor, plus an extra £2 per executor for any codicil) and an executor ID check fee (£2.25 plus vat for each executor).

We also always work on the basis that we will only do the work that you want us to do, without pressuring you to take up services that you don't want or need right now.  Our transparency with costs and pricing also means that we will only ever charge you for what we do - rather than taking percentage of what you inherit.

Quick and easy process

Just send us copies of the information and documents listed below (you can even scan documents and email them to us).  We will then get to work and email you back.  There’s no need to come and see us, or even to call unless you want to.

What we would require from you is:

  • ID (click here for acceptable forms of ID)
  • Death Certificate
  • Original Will and Codicils, if any, or a good scanned copy, if we don’t hold them
  • A list of bank and building society accounts, insurance policies, shares or other assets and their approximate values as at the date of death
  • A list of any jointly-owned assets (including both the value and who the joint owners are)
  • Cost of the funeral
  • Any debts or outstanding bills
  • Confirmation of any private pension
  • Details of gifts within the last 7 years, if any
