Sport, recreation and having fun are important parts of everyday life but unfortunately can sometimes result in life changing injuries.
Recent motor racing accidents
Formula One racing drivers in particular have been involved in some horrific sporting accidents recently, with Michael Schumacher’s head injury from skiing in December 2013 and Jules Bianchi whose crash into a recovery car at the Japanese Grand Prix this October has left him fighting for his life.
If you are injured whilst pursuing your hobby, whether that is racing cars, motorbikes, bicycles, boats, horses etc. it is not simply a case of you adopt the risk of being hurt. If the cause of your injury was the fault of equipment or race organisers for example, then you may have a claim.
Motor sport injury claim
Jules Bianchi was racing in poor weather conditions with other drivers reported to have been ‘screaming for the race to stop’ before his accident. Whilst this may not be likely to be the same circumstances for you, if you’re a racing driver, the same laws do still apply.
If the accident was the fault of someone else; a result of being in the race itself (e.g. a crash) or because of faulty equipment, it’s likely that you would be able to make a claim.
If you’re not sure whether you should make a claim or not, just ask! Your first meeting with us will always be completely free of charge, even if you would like us to visit you at home or in hospital, as soon after an accident as possible.
Head injury rehabilitation
There’s nothing much more serious than a head injury, but if you were ever to suffer one, we can help you to get the best, expert rehabilitation through interim payments and our associations with specialist charities.
