Client Interview: Carol Outhwaite

How did you come across Bray & Bray?

They were recommended to me by the lady at Methodist Homes who was selling my mum’s flat to me.

What were your first impressions of Janet, who dealt with your case?

Brilliant – they could not have been more helpful.

What did Janet do for you?

Bearing in mind that it was a very stressful time – my father is 91 and my mum is 89 – and my father was just going into a dementia home which meant that my mum couldn’t stay on her own in her home.  Mum was becoming more and more distressed on her own and my sister and I found that Methodist Homes was ideal for her. When we gave Janet a time schedule we didn’t think that she would be able to make it, especially as it was coming up to Christmas and I don’t know how she managed it but she did. It felt like Janet prioritised our purchase which made Christmas so much easier for us, knowing that we could get our mum moved and safe.

Were there any issues that arose along the way and how were they handled?

No – because Janet had dealt with many similar cases she knew all about the accommodation at Methodist Homes and made sure things were dealt with as quickly as possible for us.

How would you describe the process from start to finish?

It was a lot of help when we needed it.  Janet did her best when my sister and I were really starting to struggle.  It just took that little bit extra off of our shoulders.

What would you say makes Bray & Bray different to other law firms that you have used in the past?

They seem to speak my language.  I recently dealt with another solicitor and they used so much language that I just didn’t understand, which makes everything so much more difficult.  The people at Bray & Bray spoke to me using the same language that I do and I didn’t have to ask Janet to explain what something meant even once.

If you were to recommend Bray & Bray to a friend or family member, what would you say to them?

I’d say that the people at Bray & Bray are very helpful and I couldn’t recommend them more.

Do you have any other comments to add?

I’m also grateful to the lovely lady at Methodist Homes, because it was her recommendation that led me to Bray & Bray!
